Why we're not listing routes city by city

A lot of travel sites publish a separate page for every departure city — "flights from London to Prague," "flights from New York to Prague," and so on — mostly to catch search traffic rather than to tell you anything a good flight search tool wouldn't show you directly. We'd rather give you the general picture once, properly, and let you take the specific dates and city that matter to you to a proper flight-search tool of your choice.

Who flies there

Václav Havel Airport is well served by full-service European carriers and a solid handful of budget airlines, giving Prague strong direct connections to most major European hubs. Long-haul direct service is thinner than a capital of this size might suggest — many visitors from outside Europe connect through a hub like London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam or Istanbul rather than flying direct.

Budget vs full-service

Budget carriers can make short intra-European hops to Prague genuinely cheap, especially booked a few months out — but factor in their baggage and seat-selection add-ons before comparing headline fares directly against a full-service carrier, which is more likely to include a checked bag and a more central arrival/departure time. For a short city break, a slightly pricier full-service ticket with better timing can work out equivalent once you add up a budget carrier's extras.

When to book

As a general rule, booking somewhere in the 6–10 week range before departure tends to land reasonable fares for European short-haul routes into Prague, though this varies by route and season. The two periods to actively avoid booking last-minute for for are the ones covered in our travel news & advisories page — the Christmas market season and the days around Easter — when both flights and beds fill up and prices climb well ahead of the date itself.

Search flights

Once you know roughly when you're going, a good flight-comparison site is a reasonable way to compare live fares across airlines and dates without hunting through a dozen airline sites individually — look for one that lets you search flexible dates if your travel window has any give in it.
